After serving dogs to cycle with their humans for the last 3 years, we developed a solution for humans who want to share their existing bike with their canine buddies. Multiple iterations, repeated tests, plenty of duct tape and 3D prints, and finally a solution that will work with (most) bikes and (small) dogs!

Assembly

Installing your Canine Copilot takes about 10 minutes just 2 tools, after which you will be able to mount and dismount the cockpit in just 3 seconds.

Installation consists of 3 main steps:

  1. Bolt on Mounting Base to either steering column or seat tube/post.
  2. Attach Cockpit to Supports. (Front Supports included; Rear Supports sold separately.) 
  3. Insert supports into base. Adjust height and alignment as needed.

Q: Will my dog fit in the Canine Copilot™ cockpit?
A: Dogs come in various sizes. Brook & Breeze offers riding solutions for dogs of different sizes, but the Canine Copilot™ is specifically designed for small and medium-small dogs weighing under 10 kg (22 lbs). See this page for more details.

Q: Will my dog get tired from standing for a long time?
A: The Canine Copilot™ features a front footrest platform that accommodates various postures such as standing, sitting, and lying down. Additionally, the four-legged cabin is specifically designed for your dog to comfortably rest their front and hind legs. Your dog will ride comfortably in the Canine Copilot™.


Q: What is the difference between front and rear mounting?
A: The Canine Copilot™ comes standard with front mounting (on the steerer tube below the handlebars). Front mounting allows for natural control and provides more space for the rider, as the basket and dog move with your steering. Brook & Breeze also offers a rear mounting option that can be installed on the seat tube or seat post of the bike. Rear mounting increases compatibility with more bikes but reduces leg and arm space for the rider, as the basket and dog do not move with the bike's motion. The rear mount adapter is sold separately.

Q: Will the Canine Copilot™ affect handling?
A: The Canine Copilot™ is designed to make steering very easy! Your dog’s weight is positioned between your arms, which enhances your balance. Unlike baskets mounted on the front or rear wheels, which can feel unsafe and difficult to control when turning, the Canine Copilot™ integrates your dog’s weight with your own, making turns effortless. However, we recommend supporting the bike and basket with both hands when stopping or pushing, as the additional top weight can make the bike unstable when you dismount.

Q: Is it easy to install?
A: Yes! The Canine Copilot™ can be quickly installed on your bike with just two tools (included). We provide an installation video and manual, and the process takes just 10 minutes to complete. The Brook & Breeze team is also ready to assist you whenever needed.

Returns

Customers are free to return Canine Copilot within 30 days if they find it doesn't fit their bike, dog, or lifestyle.

Returns will be charged a 15% restocking fee.

Love my copilot !

I had to have the canine copilot after I saw this demonstration of a dog that had never ridden on a bicycle before. My neighbor's dog met David, Brook & Breeze, founder and bike and accessories designer, for the first time. David picked him up and put him in the basket after a few minutes of getting to know each other. My neighbor's dog was calm and, in human terms, enjoyed the ride. The shape of the canine pilot and the safety harness provide a sense of safety for both the cycler and the dog. It is all so easy to install and remove. Must have if you want to take your dog out!
